Pick that up! Put that away! Where can I put this? These are common statements and questioned that are heard, almost, daily around ones home. It seems as if nobody ever has enough room, and that the things that there is room for are never put back into its place.
It can become even harder to put things back into there proper places when you are not sure where they should go. Everyone has so many items, these days, that there seems to never be enough room to place them on in an organized way.
Another problem is that, now a days, it is simpler (and more cost efficient) to purchase a new item when the old one is in need of repair. This is not because people have gotten lazy, but to the fact that manufactures either do not offer repair pieces, and if they do the prices are so high that it is a better choice to purchase a new one then repair the one you have. So the question is; How do you organize all this stuff?
Well, I guess the best thing to do would be to simplify. Don’t keep what you don’t need and don’t buy what you really don’t need. But everybody does and you can’t help what you are programmed to do. What you need is a place to keep it all and what you don’t want to do is to have to rent a storage unit. If you have to rent a storage unit, you might as well get rid of the stuff. Everybody knows that once it goes to storage, it will be years before it sees the light of day again. So keep what you need and keep it organized in your home so that you actually have access to what you want access to.
The garage is a great place to start because once you get it organized, you will be amazed at how much room you actually have. A great way to get started is to get a small out building for your back yard. If that is a possibility, you should keep all of your lawn and garden items in it. This frees up a lot of space and makes getting what you need for the home easier to get your hands on. The garage should house your car and automotive items, as well as excess home items like decorations and other seasonal items.
